Dulwich Picture Gallery

The cloister design for the extension to the Dulwich Picture followed early proposals by Sir John Soane and executed to blend into the perimeter garden walls surrounding the gallery. The extension provided support facilities for the gallery including café, lecture room and teaching space. The primary focus of the extension was the garden, to prioritise views to it and designed as a pergola to act as a feature of the garden. Plants would grow on the pergola uprights and increasingly blend into the natural setting.
